[Tig] kind of a different thing..

the TIG conferencing system at
http://www.colorist.org/forums is definitely going to be more free-
form than the TIG mailinglist. we'll see how it evolves, but, to make
a subtle point:

whereas, the TIG mailinglist has always had a certain foundation in
conventions and rules as formed by the emerging Usenet community;
whereas, the TIG mailinglist consists of messages going directly into
user mailboxes, which ideally remain free of spam: the TIG
conferencing is different. I just posted a message to one of the
forums that doesn't break any rules, because there aren't any yet (and
if ever there are will be different) ... and I felt no pangs of
commercial invasion (it includes an image of a product) of personal
space, because it's not going out to 2000 subscribers who have to
contend with it regardless.

So make use of these conferences or forums, the system is powerful,
and it offers up a new kind of freedom for those who wish to be on the
edge of TIG (but perhaps not for TIG stalwarts).
