If you're going with a Black Magic card, be aware there are certain
limitations, the most vexing of which is that if the application talking to
the card loses focus (ie. you click on some other program or the desktop), the
output of the card goes to black.
Just the stupidest "feature" I have ever seen in an "add-on" graphics card.
The entire computer lives to support the card, and while the card is in use
you cannot do anything else with that machine and get images out of the card.
And there is no way around it according to their tech support, whose answer
was followed by the statement: "The card is usually being talked to by an
editing application, Why would you want to switch away from that?"
Why indeed?
Perhaps because, in the real world, people expect their computers to be able
to do more than one thing at a time.
