[Tig] Spirit brightness in shuttle

Also, while on the topic of dirt and crud in Spirits, when I was working
in a facility multiple Spirits I would change filters in Rk2, and rear
of machine, and vacuum the metal grating in Rk3 every other bulb change.
This helped greatly to reduce thermal issues. The other common "gotcha"
is a sheet of paper getting sucked up from bottom of machine and
partially covering air filters on bottom of the machine. Also, the
squirrel cage fans in chimney sometimes "gunk up" and do not turn. If
they are removed, they can often be cleaned and work fine for many
years. There is a black rubber cap on one end of fan shaft that can be
pulled off and gunk cleaned off. A single drop of light machine oil on
shaft and putting cap back will do the trick.
I would also suggest that at least once a year the power supplies in Rk2
and Rk3 should be removed and the area behind supplies should be
vacuumed with an approved non static vacuum (like 3M). I have been
amazed at what I have found accumulated there hidden from normal view.
If you take care and proper static precautions, removing Rk 2 and 3
boards one rack and at a time and vacuuming the rack can also help keep
machines happier.
This can also be done as a paid service visit by Thomson Field Service
if you do not have facility engineering support.
As machines age, especially if they have been running hot for years, the
frequency of odd, intermittent failures often increases.

This is the most common cause of symptom you described. The other is
dirt in optics AND an old lamp.

problem, it was at the end of its life.
