[Tig] custom TV looks

Does anyone think that someday, there will be the ability for the home
"viewing artist" to customize the look of a 'broadcast' program, such
that looks like a high-con black and white, or slightly matte-finish
filter, can be applied to the signal? Certainly wouldn't be a
mainstream consumer item, but a set-top add-on perhaps. It's
probably already been implemented by someone who's got backing from a
Venture Capitalist. What brought the idea to mind was this
paragraph, from an article in today's LA Times about LA's currenly
blooming jacaranda trees:

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-jacaranda12-2008may12,0,3212410.story

"Blue is a very difficult color to achieve in botany," he said. "They
don't serve more than for the purpose of eye candy, but we as humans
are inherently drawn to color. Why is it that we pay more for a color
TV than for one that's black and white?"
--end quote--

(why indeed- a stupid question, because we all know why- they're more
expensive)
