This certainly is already in the main stream utilized within the  
Gaming realm.
Shaders / styles are prebuilt into a game using the graphics card  
shading programs.

At the hit of a Key a gamer can change the interface to mimic a number  
of preset styles.
Film Look with Grain and weave, alternate sepia tones, bleach bypass  
style looks ect.

Most of these shaders are readily available on alternate developer  
website as demonstrations.
It therefor isnt too hard to image this technology being built into  
Flat screen drivers.
These drivers are already quite intricate with the amount of image  
processing they are having to perform to present a decent image,
including noise reduction, LUT's, Deinterlacing,.... pretty much the  
abilities of a Davinci Classic and Bosch FDL60 without the UI .... and  
more.
