It has already been proven here that at 6K and above and 35mm film.,
the shape of film grains is being captured and that sample resolution
(but not range) becomes less important. The actual intensity of those
film grains is perhaps not a very accurate representation of reality.
At some point the film response becomes quite non-linear. This places
a limit on the intensity range which can be captured from the film.
Digital cameras are another situation entirely.
