As well there should be.

The technology for altering still and moving footage has now gotten
sufficiently sophisticated that it's very difficult to tell what's original
and what's been altered, even for those who are doing the altering on a
regular basis.

At least for stills, one potential solution which comes to mind is to have all
cameras imprint a visually invisible watermark of some sort which falls apart
if any portion of the image is changed.
