We worked together at The Video tape Company it was my 2nd gig in Hollywood.
The Post Group was my 3rd gig.
You asked

"Does anyone know what shop or shops were used for the vfx shots for Star Trek:
Next Generation? We're talking '87-"

I know exactly. It was a Star studded crew.
I still remember the streaks and twinkles transporter FX element tape.

Star Trek The Next Generation 1987 VFX was The Post Group Hollywood.

K-Scope and 1" playback machines,

We were one of the 1st shows in the world to master final VFX to D1 tape.

Unitel Hollywood did the online

CIS and Price Pethel pin reg transfered from 35mm film to 1" tape
